Approach
Take SR2, Angeles Crest Highway, up to Islip Saddle. There are a couple of turnouts. There is a trail marked on the right side of the highway. This trail leads you into Little Jimmy Springs, camping is allowed here. On the far side of the campground there is a trail marked "Mount Islip". The trail switchbacks up to the east ridge which eventually gets you onto the summit. Take the same route to return. The trail is best climbed between May and October. All the trails are well maintained.
Route Description
This is a fairly easy hike. It is roughly 5 miles round trip with about 1250 feet of elevation gain. I would classify this route as easy to moderate.
Essential Gear
Be sure to wear good hiking shoes and water, those are essentials. A camera would be a good idea because the views are incredible.
