Route Description

This route is a very short hike on the East Rim of the canyon that provides some of the best views in the park. The total round-trip distance is only about a mile, but it is a very nice and well worthwhile short hike. This excursion takes you from the park visitors center to the East Rim on a very well groomed trail. Once you reach the overlook there are amazing views of the canyon to the north, west and south. You'll only gain about 100 feet, which is on the return. That makes this hike suitable for all ages. This trail is a very well worthwhile little hike because of its' views.

"There have been joys too great to be described in words, and there have been griefs upon which I have dared not to dwell, and with these in mind I must say, climb if you will, but remember that courage and strength are naught without prudence, and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime. Do nothing in haste, look well to each step, and from the beginning think what may be the end.
