Approach

Follow Fairy Lake Road to the trailhead. There is adequate parking here. The trailhead starts at approximately 7,500'.

Route Description

The trail is well worn as it begins to meander through the dense pines trees. There is a series of switchbacks along the trail as you begin to gain altitude. Eventually you rise above the pines and above treeline and climb along the scree. Even here, the trail is well worn in. The trail finally falls into a glacial cirque between Hardscrabble Peak and Sacagawea Peak. The rail begins to steepen at this point. Once you obtain the saddle between the (2) peaks, follow the trail to the left and you'll reach the summit with (15) minutes. The total elevation gain is about 1,970' and it's about 2.2 miles to the peak from the trailhead.

Essential Gear

Sturdy boots, all weather clothing, walking poles, and plenty of liquids should be all that is needed.
