Approach

From Durango, take HWY 550 north to Molas Pass. Continue north for less than .25 miles to a signed turn for Little Molas Lake. Take this turn (left), and follow the good quality dirt road past a campground and on to the trailhead.

From Silverton, take HWY 550 south for about 7 miles to Little Molas Lake. Take the turn (right) onto the dirt road and continue on past the campground to the trailhead.

Route Description

From the trailhead at Little Molas Lake, hike north into the basin between peak 12,734 and peak 12,849. Once at the top, contour east around peak 12,899 and go over the top of peak 13,087. Once over peak 13,087, hike the ridge to the eastern summit of Grand Turk. There are usually a few climbers trails to follow.

The round trip distance is about six miles.
The elevation gain is about 2400 feet.

Essential Gear

During typical climbing months, no special gear is required.
