Approach
The approach is simple - plan to stay at the Deli for several hours or have a designated driver. The beverage is not suitable for all ages, so ID will be required if you look under 25yrs of age. Your older climbing pals can buy and dispense beverages in your favor if you don't look under 18. At $5 a pop, these fruity concoctions are not cheap (as most of the pricing at the Deli). You must approach this beverage (and the Deli in general) with a Cost-is-No-Object manner in order to fully enjoy the experience. If having a significant dent made in your wallet will affect your ability to enjoy the menu, consider buying items from the refrigerator cases or the regular store shelves (even these items are more expensive than you can get elsewhere at Lee Vining, Mammoth, or even the Tuolumne Store). Credit cards are an excellent way to delude yourself, at least momentarily, that everything is free. All major brands accepted.
Beverage Description
$5 per glass, 2004 pricing. $15 per pitcher, pours about 5 glasses, so definitely the value bargain. These drinks are not made individually, in fact they are made in and poured from a five-gallon bucket. Don't let the mass production methods discourage you as they are a delicious & lively mix of mango fruit and tequilla. There may be other items mixed in as well, but they are pretty much buried by the two most prominent ingredients. The margaritas go great with almost any meal combination, or alone while seated outside listening to the Waabonga drum group or any of the other semi-regular bands that entertain there.
Essential Gear
A straw may be helpful to allow you to savor the moment, but if your climb is time-critical you can dispense with this item to save time during consumption. Ropes are generally unnecessary, and crampons will likely be frowned upon in the establishment.
