Approach

Follow the directions in the “Getting There” section of the main page.

Route Description

This route follows the classic trip up Montezuma Basin. Where the road splits in the basin you’ll want to follow the right branch instead of the left which heads towards Castle Peak. Continue to the roads end. You’ll be able to see Malemute Peak looming to your right with the ridge/saddle above you. Head for the lowest point on the ridge above. Once on top you’ll head southeast to the summit with some nice class two scrambling. The views from the top are unparalleled to any in the range.

Essential Gear

Comfortable boots, snack food/water and a camera.
Winter conditions may occur in any time of the year so always check the weather report for the area.
