Approach


The starting point is the upper station of Kanin cable-car, cca 2200m (3h) or Dom Petra Skalarja (hut), 2260m (2,5h).

Route Description


From the upper station of Kanin cable-car you reach the Dom Petra Skalarja (hut) in 20 minutes. You can go over the marked route to the hut but you can also cross the slopes above the hut and visit the hut when you return.

Then you follow the route and the signposts to the Visoki Kanin. You walk below the east ridge of Kanin where are popular mountain Hudi Vrsic, 2474m. The route is scrambling over some small rocks and cross the long screes.

When you come to the short wall you climb it with help of strained ropes. You cme on the ridge and from the north side (from Kanin glacier) comes the feratta Julia. Here are routes come together and you walk some meters to the summit of Visoki Kanin.
