Approach

The trailhead starts in Vrata valley, on Turkov rovt (meadow) some 1500m before the Aljazev dom (hut) - on 940m of altitude. In late spring this place can be already reached by car, if not, from Mojstrana village you have a 2 hours walk.

From Triglav

Route Description

From Turkov rovt you cross the Triglavska Bistrica creek. On the other side you will find a path which is not marked. You gain some altitude through woods, proceed in south-east direction and after good 30 minutes reach open place at the bottom of The valley behind Cmir (Za Cmirom). Altitude: cca 1200m.

Now the direction of ascent slowly turns more and more towards south. There is no more path, but you can ascend through passages in pine trees. Reaching the foothills of Cmir (2393m) or, actually of its NE foresummit Nad Kuhinjo spica (2266), the ascent gets steeper.

You follow the route through the dwarf pine and you reach over the steep slopes the start of upper part of the valley Za Cmirom.

From here you turn right in the NW direction and you start scrambling on the SE slopes of Cmir. First you climb over smal rock wall (around UIAA I) and then you ascend steeply over the nice grassy slopes.

You come to the SW ridge of Cmir some meters below the main summit. You find the marked route and over marked route you reach the summit of Cmir.

You descend by the same route or you can continue your trip over SW ridge to the Dom Valentina Stanica (hut).

Essential Gear

Good hiking shoes, rope for not good climbers.
