Approach

From Canmore head south on the Trans-Canada Highway and park at the Heart Creek Parking lot near the Lac des Arcs interchange. From here follow the marked trail across Heart Creek towards Heart Mountain. It would be hard to get lost as the route is well travelled.

Route Description

The route begins as a trail but as you get on the mountain the route becomes a steep ascent and does not let up till you get to the top. You will be following the right hand side of the Heart shape as seen in the attached image. There are a couple of places where you must do some moderate scrambling to continue on the trail but nothing beyond the ordinary scrambling. The terrain is firm in most places and it is an enjoyable half day.

Essential Gear

If you are there early in the season crampons might come in handy. Otherwise dress as you would for any of the peaks in the area. Have some warm clothes and a wind or rain shell tucked away in the event of bad weather. Snacks and water.

Miscellaneous Info

If you have information about this route that doesn't pertain to any of the other sections, please add it here.
