Approach
From the stop light intersection of State Highway 62 and Adobe Road in Twentynine Palms, CA drive 2 miles N on Adobe Road to Amboy Road. Turn right (E), follow Amboy Road for about 25 miles to Sheephole Pass. There is a microwave relay station dirt road turnoff on the right side (E) of the road at the pass. You can park at the microwave relay station or take the dirt road .55 miles before the station turnoff and follow this dirt road .25 mile to where it drops into the big wash and park.
Route Description
From the parking spot near the microwave relay tower, drop 30 feet into the wash and turn right, hiking south for about 150 yards to an obvioiur wash heading E into the mountains. Turn left (east) here, following theis rocky wash for about 1.0 mile to its end east of point 1041. Hike east up the ridge from here to the flats below the summit ridge. From here you'll have to pick your way through huge talus to reach the summit cap, a sloping rock that is easiest climbed on its south side.
Route Statistics: 4.5 miles round-trip with 2,300 feet of elevation gain.
