Approach

The "Half Day" for the time required includes the entire hike. I would guess that the time spent on the harder section would be an hour to two, max.

Start from the Dog Lake trailhead in Yosemite, and after a mile head cross-country to the east following Delaney Creek. Before you reach Skelton lakes the southwest slopes will lie ahead of you on the left.

Route Description

There are a variety of ways to get up this section (I actually downclimbed it), but there are points where basic rock climbing skills would make life easier for you. Higher up, just before you hit the final scree slope, there are some sandy slabs that would result in a bit of a drop if you lost your footing.

Essential Gear

There are no technical needs for this climb. Though it is a little bit difficult, the sections of class 4 are so brief and intermittent that it would be a waste of time and energy to bring a rope for them. Good sturdy hiking boots that can handle a few foot jams here and there would be a bonus.
