The Trailhead is located on Seven Springs Rd at the southern end of the mountain.
The Jesuit Retreat House has closed acess to this trail head. So for now this trail is closed.See Here scroll down to Schunemunk - Jessup Trail (6-12-2005)
Route DescriptionThis trail follows the spine of the mountain from its southern end to the summit. There is a 300 ft elevation gain within the first mile, than it is a gradual ascent to the summit after that. The trail starts in a wooded area and comes out into the open on the second half of it. You will come to what appears to be the summit at 1,662 ft, but the true summit which is only 2ft higher is about a half mile beyond that.
Essential GearSturdy shoes and lots of water. There are little rock climbs in a couple places. but nothing major and nothing you would need any gear for.
