Approach

If you are coming from Phoenix stay strait on interstate 17 untill it ends, from the stay strait on the road, it will then go under a railraos track and curveto the right. Take the first light to the left, there will be a sign that directs you to Snowbowl. The road is called humphreys road. Stay on that road until the next light where there will be a grocery store strait ahead, instead turn left. Follw the road untill you see the sign that says snowbowl, make a right there and there will be parkin below the hart prarie lodge.

Route Description

There are many ways to take up the mountain and many peaks to choose from, the best two to choose are agassiz or Humphreys. What we did was we went to agassiz ski lift and made our way to the upper bowl. It is very easy to navigate there, just follow the main slope.from the get to the agassiz saddle where you will be able to go either on Humphreys or Agassiz. We did both but during seperate months though it is possible to do both in one day with good weather and an early leave. The top is awesome and dont forget to take pictures.

Essential Gear

No technical things here, snowshoe, crampons, ice axe, shovel, probe, helmet (good idea) and dont forget the backcountry winter pass that can be picked up at the hart prarie lodge on the weekends or the peaks ranger district in Flagstaff. The pass is a must
