Approach


Take Whitney Portal Road west from US-395.
Take Horseshoe Meadows Road south to Cottonwood Lakes Trailhead (9960').
Follow Cottonwood Lakes Trail just over a mile to a trail on the north side of the South Fork of Cottonwood Creek.
Leave the trail after ~1.6 miles and follow the South Fork of Cottonwood Creek until it heads north to Cirque Lake.
From here follow the drainage to the base of the cirque.

Route Description


Climb the the cirque northwest to the south ridge to the summit.
