Approach

You start at Whitney Portal and take the Main Whitney Trail to the junction with the North Fork of the Lone Pine Creek Trail. There is a sign that identifies the North Fork Line Pine Creek where the trail starts. Follow the North Fork trail to Lower Boy Scout Lake.

Route Description

From Lower Boy Scout Lake head south to a ridge (looks like a saddle) east of Thor Peak. The slope to the ridge is steep, but fairly easy to climb. Once up on the ridge traverse west to the summit of Thor Peak. You'll find use trails up to the ridge and along the ridge to the summit of Thor Peak.

Essential Gear

In the summer no technical gear is required. In the winter and Ice axe and crampons would be needed.
