Approach

Follow directions to the Hannegan Pass trail. Use the Hannegan Pass trailhead. There are several campsites available at the trailhead as well as a very nice cooking shelter and park benches near where you park.

Route Description

Start at the Hannegan Pass Trailhead 3,100ft. Hike East on the trail 4.0 miles until you reach Hannegan Pass 5,100ft. Hannegan pass is a wide saddle between Hannegan Peak (to the North) and Pt. 5,963 (to the South). There is a backcountry toilet located on Hannegan Pass. Here take a spur trail left (North) and hike switchbacks up the South side of Hannegan Peak. At about 5,600 feet you will reach the broad summit ridge head North climbing another ~500ft to the summit 6,186ft.

Essential Gear

Unless melt water is available carry water for this one. In winter Avalanche gear and snowshoes or skis are necessary.
