Route overview | Altitude difference: | 1000m / 3281ft | | Duration: | 3-5 hours (to the summit) | | Trail length: | about 7km | | Trailhead: | Kühtai |
ApproachTrailhead is a parkinglot in Kühtai (2017m / 6617ft).
Look at the main page for detailed information about reaching Kühtai.
Route DescriptionChoose one of the trails up to Finstertal reservoir (about 2350m / 7710ft). For example via Drei-Seen - hut (2311m / 7582ft). After reaching Finstertal reservoir follow trail #146 along the east-side of the lake. There is a special ski-route near the dam, because the slope is rocky and steep.
At the south end of the lake, the trail leads on into a valley. A little stream flows down this valley. This stream is completely frozen in winter and may be tricky to cross (maybe crampons are needed !).
At about 2900m / 9514ft the summit ridge (south rigde) is reached. The ridge is an easy scramble (some places UIAA I).
Essential GearIn summer hiking gear is sufficient.
In winter snow shoes or skies are fine.
