Navigate through gullies and boulder heading toward a deep ravine in the mountain. (Heading toward the ravine before traveling down the trail 1.5 miles will make the hike more difficult.) Scramble up to the center of the ravine where a rocky wash/gully provides for easy hiking. Follow the gully to a notch at 5,400 feet elevation. From the notch hike ESE dropping about 150 feet in 0.3 miles to where you pick up the summit ridge and follow it to the summit.
