Approach

By car from Torino to Susa (North-West Italy - Piemonte) and from Susa by military road to "La Riposa" (2205 m.), where is situated a parking area

(road in bad conditions, drive slow!)

You follow the path to the refuge Refuge "Ca D'Asti" (2854 m.) where it's possible to sleep (1 hour and half from "La Riposa").

Route Description

SOUTH-EAST SIDE:

From the refuge you can climb the mountain in about three hours from the refuge on a easy route with the help of some ropes during the path. You will lead the point "La crocetta" (an iron cross) at 3306 meters by the south side of the mountain and then to the peak (the part with the ropes) by the east side of the mountain.

On the peak there is a bivouac "Maria" in wich is possible to sleep but be carefull because the temperature could be very cold and you should need the necessary equipment for low temperature.

Near the bivouac is situated also a little church, used every 5th and 15th of August for religious functions.

Difficult EE (Expert Excursionists). Meters from "La Riposa" 1350. Time required 4 hours.

BE CAREFULL: with the present of snow and ice in the last part of the path (wich one exposed to East Side) the climbing could be difficult. Help you with the ropes fixed among the rocks.

Essential Gear

Normal Hiking Equipment in summer period, crampons in the other period.
A good pair of sunglasses and a camera to shot the wonderful panorama from the peak!
