ApproachStart: Sella pass.
Hiking Time: 3 hours to the peak, 7 hours round trip.
The Val di Fassa connects with the Val Gardena along the SS 242 main road, which in 12 km takes you from Canazei to the pass, set on a grassy ridge which separates the Sassolungo group from the Sella group.
Route DescriptionFrom "Sella mountain pass" (where it's possible to arrive by car) on a easy path at the left of the telpherage to refuge Friedrich August. Then, you continue the trip to ref. Sandro Pertini and to ref. Sassopiatto (Plattkofelhutte - 2 hours). When you have reached this refuge, turn right and begin to climb the mountain. (1 hour and half from ref. Sassopiatto, 3 hours and half from Sella mountain pass).
To come back to the Sella pass, is a nice trip from ref. Sassopiatto to continue and to do all the tour of the mountain, leading the refuge Vicenza and then ref. Demetz (from refuge Sassopiatto 5 hours), where it's possible to go down to the pass by telpherage. Is a long trip, and be carefull because at 4:30 p.m. the telepherage close!
Essential GearNormal hiking equipment.

The described round tour is a nice proposal, but I would think of mentioning also the other option: To go counterclockwise (from Passo Sella towards the right), around Langkofel, then ascend Sassopiatto/Plattkofel by the ferrata and then descend on the other side down and return to Passo Sella.
