Route Description

Sentilo

Slope: 800 meters.
Time: depend of your acclimatization to height, generally 3 hours to summit and 2 to descend, but it's possible the climb in 2h30min.

We follow to east initially across the same route of the Paso de Punta Union, the evident next stage of Santa Cruz Trek. In the place near of the cross of the little river we leave the route turning to south to entry in the Quebrada Sentilo following near of the river. Before the end of the river and the little hut of the other side (very soon) we leave it to reach the ramp east (some cairns).

Ramp East

The first grassy hill bringe us to the rocky area that we border to left side (search some cairns) in a zig-zag over some terraces. In one point over 4750 meters we turn ro right to get the ramp to reach the rocky ridge north. The evident climb across some great plaques of stone with the use of the hands in some places arrive to the narrow summit of the cone peak of Sentilo. The summit is wonderfull surronded with the marvelous white peaks of Cordillera Blanca: Paria, Artesonraju, Quitaraju, Alpamayo, Rinrijirca, Taulliraju, Chacraraju.

Essential Gear
