Dreznica village (553m) can be reached by a 5km long road from Kobarid or by a 1 hour of walk by the marked path. From there we start the tour on Krn at primary school.

Access to via feratta

From Dreznica go by the marked path to the bridge over a small stream Rocica. Here turn left. You will soon access a crossroads above the bridge. Right path goes towards the saddle under Kozeljak (1602m), our path turns left and leads us next to the stream of Rocica to the nice bivouac on Crnik (1216m, water). Continue by the large avalanche area under the wall. Till here you need 2 hours.

Route Description

Initially we are overcoming steep slopes in keys. The path is avoiding skilfully some harder places, while other exposed places are all protected with steel cable. On around 1900m height we climb on a prominent shoulder. Our route is called Zahodna Drezniska smer(Western Dreznica Route). On this shoulder there is an intersection of two routes. The right one goes away from walls. The left route continues by via feratta, named "Pot Silva Korena". Among mountaineers it is known as "Leva" (the Left one). The feratta ascends over a 300m high pillar, which promises a bold and exposed climbing. Just above the beginning there's a plate with designation, then we climb over a quite easy terrain to the edge of our pillar. After a beautiful and exposed climb we come on an exposed ledge. Above it there's a metal box with a book and stamp. We are on some 2100m of altitude. From the box we continue by almost vertical rock slope, which brings us to the next rocky step, which we overcome by a 8m long ladder. Next we traverse a ravine by a prominent ledge, then the route turns again towards the edge of the pillar. Ther's less and less harder details and suddenly we appear in front of Gomisckovo Zavetisce hut (2110m). From there to the summit of Krn we have still 10 minutes.

- Zahodna Drezniska smer (Western Dreznica route) - via feratta "Pot Silva Korena" - summit of Krn = 3h
- summit of Krn - Dreznica = 3h

Together = 8 - 9 h
