Main access to Cercedilla is from Madrid:

- By car :
You take A6 highway and then M-607. It takes you around 1h to complete the 60Km

- By train: From the central stations Atocha or Chamartin you go to Cercedilla

Route Description

Ascend to Montón de Trigo begins in Cercedilla beautiful "alpin" town.

From Las Dehesas in Cercedilla where we can get with the car there begins the path behind the barrier. After crossing a little bridge, you will arrive to the "Calzada Romana" - a historic road build by the Romans a long, long time ago.

Just following it you will reach another key milestone in the route the "Puerto de la Fuenfria". Here you can have a little rest before re-starting the ascend heading West.

Soon the view opens and Montón de Trigo, our target, appears on its best shape.

Then you get up the Cerro Minguete and following North you reach the summit.

Length (circular): 10 Km
Time : 6hs

Essential Gear

In winter crampons and ice axe for the last part of the climb are more than recommended.

In all seasons, telescopic walking sticks (at least one) for the approximation.

In summer, provide with enough water, a hat and protective-sun cream
