Overview

A nice, post introductory chimney 100m in length. Situated approximately 30-35m south of "Easy Gully". Grade varies depending on condition.

Getting There

Use Ordnance Survey "Explorer" map 392 - "Ben Nevis & Fort William". If you don't fancy a VERY Long walk-in then park at the Ski Centre - six figure grid reference 172 774 on above map. Take the Gondola (approx £8 including the extra required for chair lift)to the station then head west along to the Chair Lift. Be aware that there are crags on both sides here SO FROM HEREON IN IT IS UP TO YOU TO CONSULT THE GUIDE BOOKS AND MAPS FOR PRECISE AND ACCURATE directions. From the Chair Lift head uphill for about 30-40 min, skirting the Ski Tow, to the Mountain Rescue post then veer right. Find "Easy Gully", down climb (if you are the first of the season then you may have to cut through a cornice) then head approx 30m left ( ie left as you look back up "Easy Gully").

Route Description

In condition presents good hard neve, some Ice patches and occasionally small patches of verglas rock. Mostly straight up, with - depending on conditions - one short traverse to the left across a small rock slab required at about 1/2 way.

Essential Gear

Rope of course; tech boots (min B2); 12 point Crampons; Helmet - you will be truly grateful for this if you are No 2 on the rope, and MEGA grateful if there is also another team above you; 2 tech axes (1 with hammer) and preferred rack for Snow and Ice climbing including nuts, Pitons and Ice screw.
