OverviewThe western and eastern access is via the Mountains to Sea trail (MTS).
Getting ThereOn the MTS trail; closest access is from the east at Blue Ridge Parkway/NC 127 intersection (via the Boundary trail). From the west, access via Balsam Gap on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Route DescriptionEast of Blackstock Knob, after Rainbow Gap, the Mountains to Sea trail(MTS) climbs an unnamed knob then descends. Hiking east as the MTS trail curves right around the south side of Potato Knob, look for a FAINT path to the left. Follow this up. It becomes an OLD jeep path, then turns off to the right and eventually to summit ridge about 100 yards north of summit rocks. There are exceptional views to the south, including the Asheville watershed and the Great Balsams.
