Overview

Northshore Peak is just right next to Northshore Summit along Northshore Road on the North side of Lake Mead. The easiest route is along the East Ridge.

Getting There

Driving around Las Vegas drive to exit 45B on I-15 and go east. Drive East about 4 miles to the intersection of Lake Mead Blvd and Nellis Blvd. Set your odometer to 0.

Continue East on Lake Mead Blvd. Follow the main road all the way around the curves once over the mountain pass. At 10.6 miles you will reach the fee booth. Once past the fee booth you'll drive another 2.1 miles (12.7 total) to a T-Intersection. Turn Left. Drive another 17.3 miles (30 miles total) and you will see the parking area on your left. Park here.

Route Description

From the parking lot cross the highway. From here aim for the ridge on straight ahead where the ridge starts. Here are the coordinates: 36.220966º N 114.61938333ºW (36º13.258 N 114º37.163 W). It is 1/2 mile to here from the parking lot.

From here start hiking directly up the East Ridge to the summit. There is one false summit along the way.

After the false summit you will reach a short drop down 3rd class section before finishing the final 100 yards or so to the summit. The total distance to the summit is about 1.25 miles. To return retrace your steps.
