Overview
This is the Nubbin Wall at Seclusion in Great Falls Park. The route provides a nice opportunity to unroped climbers who want something more difficult than the Class 3 and 4 scrambles here but want to keep things reasonable if one is going sans rope. The climb is a single pitch of about 55 feet.
To reach it, it is easiest to descend Class 3/4 terrain that lies to the right (upstream of this face). Hike the River Trail at Great Falls Park until you reach the Seclusion face, which is just after a short level stretch over some wooden planks. An eroded clifftop area provides a view of the upstream-facing Seclusion wall. A few yards past that view, start looking for the easiest way down. From the climbers parking area just past the park entrance station, it should take less than 30 minutes to reach the base of Nubbin.
To start, climb the crack shown in the middle of the lower face, or, for more challenge, climb on the face just right of the crack. Drifting left will put one in a 5.1-5.2 crack/gully system that it fun its own right but not part of the Nubbin Route.
Higher up, stay center or just right of it as you climb the face. The climbing is harder up higher, as there are fewer cracks and smaller holds to grab, but a soloist wearing rock shoes probably won't have any trouble as long as s/he is experienced with 5.2-5.4 climbing.
It's just my own opinion, but using rope on this route is probably a waste of time and effort. However, it's your neck, so do what YOU feel is safe.
But do wear a helmet.
