OverviewThis is the easiest route to the summit of Mount June. It's only 1.2 miles with 900 feet of elevation gain. You traverse fir-filled mountain sides with occasional moss-covered rock buttresses in the forest. Views from the top are stellar on clear days encompassing most of Oregon's volcanoes (except for the far south ones). Easy enough you could take a kid on but a great one to do on your own.
Getting ThereSee the Getting There section on the main page for directions to the trailhead.Route DescriptionThe trail heads up east into the forest amid Douglas firs and swordferns. Lots of rhodies that bloom in May along the trail as well. Go .7 miles until you come to a "T" in the trail. To the left is the Sawtooth Trail that heads over to Sawtooth Rock and Hardesty Mountain. Take a right and head up the unsigned trail that pretty quickly gets steeper than the trail you were just on. Another .5 miles gets you to the summit. Near the top you will curve left at a view point back west. The rocky summit has the remnants of an old fire lookout and great views over to Hardesty Mountain and the Three Sisters. Return the same way.Essential GearNone needed.External LinksAdd External Links text here. Images
