OverviewA variety of routes are possible to Cerro Vista's summit.
Getting ThereSee main text.Route Description Assuming you drove to the saddle at 11,230 feet, hike directly west up the grass and forested slopes. You will cross many old logging roads along the way; ignore them. Nearer the top you will come to a dirt and rocky ATV road. You can follow this the remainder to the top. Descend the same way. This round trip covers maybe 1.5 miles round trip with about 700 feet of gain. Navigation is easy.
You can walk the ATV road all the way up. It is not marked on the maps, but it starts roughly here. Look for a steep rutted track heading up the slope on your left.
You can try some of the tracks coming up from Cerro Olla and points south.
Essential GearLong pants for the cross country.
I am not sure if the road is plowed in winter. If it is not, then it still appears that one could make a long cross-country ski trek to the peak. If anyone has done this, please post a report.External LinksAdd External Links text here.
