OverviewMy favorite hike for a morning or afternoon activity. Bring binoculars to watch the birds at the top, and save your lunch for one of many nice sets of rocks overlooking the water on the way down.Getting ThereFollow above directions to Nyack Beach State Park. Trail entrance is a few blocks away. Just walk back out of the park the way you drove in. Head down Broadway until you hit Larchdale, and make a right on it. When you can no longer head forware, turn left (that's Midland Avenue). In 300 feet you'll see a double white blaze painted on a rock. Turn right, and follow the white blazes (the Upper Nyack Trail) through the woodlands.Route DescriptionThe white blazes run into the aqua-blazed Long Path. Make a right at the junction of the two and follow the Long Path all the way up and down. For great detail and some interesting history of the path, please see the link to the NY-NJ Trail Conference description below. (I don't want to plagiarize their material!).
Essential GearWater, snacks. Possibly crampons in winter, but not sure as I've only done this trail in the other 3 seasons!!External LinksNY-NJ Trail Conference Hike of the Week detailed description: http://www.nynjtc.org/trails/record/021010.htm
