The overview

This route, unlike the more classic ascent from the valley of Saas, allows a more direct approach and without the use of cable cars.
Indeed a paved road that climbs the town of Tasch, leads directly to the hamlet of Ottavan located in the meadow of Taschalp (2214m).
Usually the road should be clear of snow already at the end April.Otherwise it must ski directly from the valley.

The route

First day
From the hamlet of Ottavan where it is possible to leave the car(free car park), follow the signs to Tasch hutte (2701m), where a simple and easy path gets in more or less 1.30 hours to the refuge.
Second day
From the refuge take the signs for the Alphubeljock.
At the begin go across the snowslopes above the hut, never difficult, till the Alphubelgletscher.
Continue along the right side of the glacier on slight slopes, and making a long semi-circle to the left avoiding the few crevasses in the middle.
At this point, the slope becomes almost flat and leads to the pass of Alphubel(3773m).
From the pass a wonderful view opens on the whole Feegletscher and the Allalinhorn.
Now the top of the Alphubel is clearly visible on your left.
Carry on for a long traverse below the main summit(warning avalanches) to meet a fairly steep channel that descends directly from the top.
This is the steepy point of the route.
In case of bad snow conditions, it is advisable to climb on foot leaving perhaps skis at the base.
When climbed the almost 200m of the funnel-shaped channel, the slopes suddenly decrease in steep untill the total flat of the top. 4206m.
In descent follow the same route.
