OverviewThis is the shortest route to climb El Yelmo, but it's not always easy to follow, specially in the first section after the parking.

Slope: 700m.Route Description
We'll begin in the great parking of Canto Cochino (1020m), descending to cross the river Manzanares. After the bridge, we'll leave the path what goes in left side, turning to right to reach a forest track where's a signal with the indication to refugio Giner de los Ríos to left side. We don't turn to this route to refuge and we'll attack the hard ramp, with path, in fron of us. We'll walk a lot of zig-zag, with a lot of vegetation, generaly in left direction, to reach finally a great path, it's the path of Carbonerass) at 1251m, at North of Mirador del Tranco (1284m). The path is very nice in this area enjoying of the peaks and walls of granite of La Pedriza. After an easy walk-up we'll reach a great plain of grass in the little col de la Encina (1300m) . We'll search in left side the cairns of stones, and some paint in the rocks, to get te path to N.E. leaving in left side the path to Col de la Pedriza (1331m) and the Gran Cañada.
The path is narrow but evident and finally, with many attention to cairns, we'll arrive to the wide Pradera del Yelmo (1590m) with a marvelous view of South face of our peak, a place where you'll see generally many rock-climbers in its walls. We'll follow to right side, searching a little path, bordering the peak Rompeolas (summit S.E. of El Yelmo) to the North. We'll entry to the normal access in a point at N.E. of the peak where the ridge is divided by great blocks of granite with the summit over it. Walking over the blocks we'll reach the bottom of the summit in a shoulder under the gap. It's a narrow chimney (II) of 15 meters to summit (1719m).
