Overviewwork in progress...
Getting ThereFrom Granite/Thunder/Blue lakes, you have a couple of options depending on how much ground you feel like covering. First, you can hike through alpine meadows towards the ridge for climbing Crazy Peak. You will reach a small snow-fed lake (during the summer). At this point, hop over the saddle to the west and head towards the lowest point along the ridge between Crazy Peak and Iddings Peak. Another option is to find your way to Pear Lake and hike along its eastern edge, again aiming for the lowest point on the ridge between Crazy and Iddings Peak. Stay above Pear Lake and don't follow the shoreline because you will probably run into cliffs and need to backtrack.
Route DescriptionOnce on the ridge, cross onto the north slope while gaining elevation and looking for a non-cliff path that will put you onto the main ridge. With a little bit of luck and route finding, this shouldn't be too difficult. After regaining the ridge, follow it to the best of your ability and you'll end up on the summit of Iddings Peak.
Essential GearSturdy hiking boots will get you to the top in the summer. An ice axe and maybe crampons could be nice if the time of year requires you to travel on snow. This route is non-technical, but make sure you are comfortable moving over loose rock.
