Blue: my route from the lake. 1: the false summit to which all routes on this part of the mountain lead. 2: the sandy-colored gully/scree slope (Class 2) leading to the east ridge. 3: a rocky area offering Class 4 climbing that gets quite exposed despite the relatively short (about 150-200') climbing section. 4: the notch at 12,838' 5: the "notch gully," a steep, often-loose scree slope leading directly to the notch. I used this as my descent route. The rock bands to the right have Class 3 routes through them, but reaching them could be tedious. 6: the lake at 12,200' from which these routes can be accessed.
