An Ecuadorian Caracara (either Carunculated or Mountain variety) as we near the summit of Rucu. Our friend, who had been climbing this mountain since he was a child said it was the closest he has ever been to one. It was wonderful to watch as it's eyes pierced the surrounding valley and then to watch it launch into flight.

It was a special experience for me. I loved the emotion that this bird radiated.
