Rugged Oasis

[ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Rugged Oasis
The Seven Falls area of Bear Canyon with accompanying pools in the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona near Tucson. The rugged ridge leads up to Thimble Peak (to the right just out of photo). Rocks in the area are quartzo-feldspathic gneiss. The protolith to these rocks before metamorphism quite likely was granite. Note the people just along the left side of two of the pools of water that give an idea of scale.
