Re: cans

I agree! This is only a small area of what I found out there.
I will post more photos showing the vastness of the area.
The cans are very old, I would guess dating back to the fifties or earlier.

Re: cans

The hobo who ate those beans must be spinning in his grave !

Nice find, Marc.

Re: cans

Haha, about the beans! And we know why they are spinning.

I think most of the cans were for fruit juices. And many of them had bullet holes on the side.
Thanks Larry,
Marc

Re: cans

Well ... I'm not one to speculate, but I
smell a redneck.

At least they were 'hyped up' on Vitamin C !

Re: cans

Oh, I'm sure they were hyped up on more than just Vitamin C !

Remains to Be Seen

I know of a similar place, in the Alabama Hills west of Lone Pine, California. One day I decided to climb the hill with the "LP" painted on it. I discovered that the gully on the east side of the hill is full of rusty old paint cans, discarded there over many, many, many decades.

Re: Remains to Be Seen

I am not surprised. I have no doubt there are many areas in the foothills of the Sierras similar to this area. Though, the area I found was loaded with mostly fruit juice cans and food cans. The reason I think they were mostly fruit juices is that they all had two triangular holes on the top. These are the kind of holes made with old beer can openers. But, next time in the Alabama Hills, I'd like to find your area as well.

Rust Deserts

The tusks which clashed in mighty brawls
Of mastodons, are billiard balls.
The sword of Charlemagne the Just
Is Ferric Oxide, known as rust.
The grizzly bear, whose potent hug,
Was feared by all, is now a rug.
Great Caesar's bust is on the shelf,
And I don't feel so well myself.

Arthur Guiterman (1871-1943)
