Blaze334From Strbske Pleso October in 2001  Sucess!

Very nice day. We started very early about 3 o'clock. We met a curious cub at Chata pri Popradskom plese. Reached the summit about half past eight. Bright morning. Exquisite.

edderkoppennice day  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 1, 2005

Went up the normal way from Polish side. I hiked with my heavy backpack up to the hut/hostel the day before (hut at the scenic lake )unaware that there are horses that take you up most of the way..
Next morning great weather and about 6 hours to the top and back.
Easy in good weather. Some chains close to the summit = good when icy. Few people coming from Polish side, but saw many coming up from the easier Slovak side. At the hut I walked a few hundred meters down and jumped on one of the horse wagons/ cart to take me down. Nice ride.

morceauxVia normal route from Strbske Pleso  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 8, 2006

Began the ascent at 8 AM in cloudy weather. Then it turned worse, and we had some smaller rain showers during walking up. A lot of people were attempting. Arrived about at noon to the summit, visited both peaks. Then we spotted a quickly forming raincloud heading just towards us. Quickly started descent, and just arrived to the Chata Pod Rysmi chalet before a heavy rainshower. After waiting a while, we continued, but just before reaching the chain-insured section, another thunderstorm struck us, with an even heavier rainshower with ice. Fortunately we survived it without thunderstrike, and finished descent by 5 PM.
By the way, we really enjoyed this tour.

We were a group of five, with my mom again and went up from the Slovak side. The traffic was unbelievable and some youngsters were pretty intolerant both towards the others and the nature. Just below the summit they touched off a rock avalanche and had a great time watching it and laughing. Luckily, nobody was hurt.

It was neverthless a very enjoyable trip and I hope to return there soon.

After sleeping in Chata Pod Rysmi chalet (Wysoka ascent the day before) ,morning climb to the summit of Rysy ,wonderful sunny weather and incredible views ,lots of people climbing Rysy that day from both Polish and Slovak side ,descent to fields over Bula Pod Rysami on Polish side and late afternoon ascent on Niznie Rysy peak (planned bivouac in a nearby cave there) .

No doubt the most interesting of all my Rysy ascents .

The long route to the peak led from border crossing at Lysa Polana through whole beatiful Belovodska Valley(thunderstorm stopped me for 1 1/2 h in the forests near Polana Pod Wysoka ,soaked to the skin...) and its upper floor of Ceska Valley with Zmrzle Pleso (gorgeous surrounding!) ,from there horribly exhausting climb by enormous scree slope and steep rocks to Vaha Pass under Rysy ,16.37 on the summit ,very long descent to Morskie Oko with wounded and bleeding feet ...after 21 pm at Palenica ...thank God succesfull hitchhiking back to Zakopane .

I climbed with my father and we were very fast so we have climbed only a few hours! We had to be fast because we started our jouney at 4 o'clock am from Hungary and we had to go back on the same day. The top is very crowded!

We had a beautiful and very hot weather, but there was still some snow, I was climbing with two girls. We reached the summit just in time! Wonderful clear sky we could see the whole High Tatras, great view! Comeing down we drank hot wine and slovakian beer, both are very fine, congratulations for them!

The girl at Chata pod Rysmi who gave us the drinks was also very beautiful!

Quite a crowd on top and en route (as usual) coming both from the Slovak and Polish sides, despite rather poor weather and visibility.
