Sacagawea

Sacagawea

The North Face of Sacagawea Peak - Lost River Range, Idaho. We made 3 serious attempts to climb this awesome looking face but turned back every time due to a lack of confidence in the rock. Like the North Face of Mt Breintenbach, retreat from this face gets much more difficult the higher one goes. Boy howdy!

I've not been on it myself, but have been assured that the quality of that rock is among the crappiest. One acquaintance regaled me with tales of tiny cuts all over his hands from the super sharp nubbins. Nice shot.

Hmmm

While climbing this face I was impressed with the high quality of rock found on pitchs 2 and 3. The rock was like a hard limestone, void of any protection. However anything above pitch 9 was loose and freaky.
