| I'm glad it had been a sunny day, or else some parts of this area (and National Park) would have been near-impossible to walk/hike/climb when wet and muddy. Gorgeous scenery, which is easy to take-in because you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere (which you basically are). There are a lot of fun trails to hike in the Badlands. I was traversing the landscape within an hour or so of sunset and watched pronghorns and mule deer coming out to graze. When driving through the park, my wife (who stayed in the car the whole time after a long day) and I not only saw those animals but we also saw prairie dogs, wild turkeys, and bison roaming around. The awesome purple, blue, red, and orange colors of the sunset were nothing like we've ever seen before... |
