Awesome place  Sucess!

Hiked up with Brian and Ben Clate 8/14/17 and camped at Piazza Rock. Played around on that rock the same day. Hiked up then the next morning to Saddleback Mountain and enjoyed the amazing open country up there. Sunny but windy. Continued on over to the Horn and back same day. Really loved being up between these peaks, a really cool place.

Incredibly windy  Sucess!

Fifty five minutes to the summit from the lawn of the ski resort. The wind today both here and on The Horn was unreal. At the summits I had to lean into it but it was warmer here than it would be the next day on Sugarloaf; I would have hated to be on this exposed ridge line with the chill I encountered the next day. Fantastic views.

Excellent  Sucess!

Family used camp near Rangely for over 20 years since I was one. I have fond memories of skiing here. This was the first time I had ever hiked past Piazza Rock and was blown away by the views. Loved every second of the hike and chilled on Eddy Pond for almost two hours, so peaceful.

Great Hike

I climbed Saddleback a few years ago when I still smoked, had to stop a lot (and have a smoke of course). My Father (who was almost 60) would just shake his head and keep going. I was so out of shape I had the bright idea to hide my pack halfway up (a ranger fortunately ended up finding it). He still makes fun of how pathetic I was on that trip lol.

Saddleback  Sucess!

Skinned up on telemark skis to watch the sunrise. -30F windchill and the winds were blowing 80mph - nearly blew me off the summit. One of the most gorgeous sunrises ever though.

on the AT  Sucess!

Climbed the AT to the summit. A foot of snow in some places. Too icy without proper foot gear to get to the Horn. WICKED nice hike!

Route Climbed: Ski Resort trail to AT  Sucess!

Started at the Saddleback Ski Resort parking lot, went up the trail at the main chair lift before picking up the AT and taking it the last quarter mile to the top. Steep, but worth it. A great way to start our backpack trip.

Saddleback Mountain  Sucess!

Climbed with The Horn via the Appalachian Trail from Route 4. One of the best hikes in the East. Climbed it in truely fantastic weather. The approach from Route 4 was long but well worth it as the hike traversed several more miles of alpine terrain than the ascent from the ski area and passed some beautiful remote lakes en route to the summit. The crown jewel of the Rangeley region.

AT, with Horn  Sucess!

Probably much shorter from the westside route. Ah, memories of the AT -- floating logs, mud, rocks, roots.

Ski Area to AT  Sucess!

Climbed Saddleback via the ski area and then went over to Saddleback horn for the 100 highest summit tag. Skied back down the resort. A great peak in a beautiful section of New England.
