Saguaro and the Moon

Saguaro and the Moon

Every picture has a story, and this one does because it's actually two pictures. I was staying at my daughter's house in Tucson for a couple days and decided to go shoot a few pic's at nearby Saguaro National Park, East Division. No one wanted to go with me first thing in the morning, so I loaded up the Jeep to head out by myself while they all slept. And I couldn't find my tripod. So, while I could have shot this picture with a tripod, a long exposure and a small aperture (if I had my tripod), I didn't. I shot two pictures, refocusing in between, then used a digital image editor to create the image you see. Imaged in August 2009.

I (also) love Saguaros!

In central Arizona, they grow in people's
front yards, and folks decorate them to look
like blinking Christmas trees.

Re: I (also) love Saguaros!

Thanks for looking and commenting, Larry. My oldest daughter is assigned in Tucson (USAF, but currently she's deployed to Iraq), so I should be getting down there on occasion. In fact, was just there passing through last week on my return from a trip to visit my folks in San Diego. Didn't get any pic's of Saguaros, however. --mark d.
