| It was a nice and cool day, took a few well paced climbing hours, with a nice clear day to greet us at the top. Absolutely beautiful. | ||

| A great weather day as three of us ascended the Cactus to Clouds trail to the tram station. First time for them; my third. A 3:24:08 ascent; not my best but about 2 miles of snow slowed the pace. | ||

| Schlepped our way up from the tram on three-pins in perfectly ghastly snow conditions. Boy, some klister would have been nice! The summit, as seems typical for winter, was caked in rime. It's actually extremely beautiful, if it weren't for the fact that the snow was in more or less the same condition. So, we enjoyed the blue skies, took in the 360-degree view of the SoCal brown haze, and ogled the upper reaches of the Snow Creek route before heading down. A fun outing despite the lousy snow. | ||

| We took the tram and then hiked to the top. Lots of snow, so the progress was slower than we expected, but still made it to the top in good time. The trees were covered in ice, it was a winter wonderland. Views were great, kind of weird to stand on a snow-covered peak looking into the desert. Well, this is California after all. We had a blast, the trip added to the great athmosphere of Xmas. | ||

| Stayed the night in Round Valley. First time to SJ summit. Left camp with Dave Gloss at 3am for a beautiful clear day and breathing taking sunrise on top. A must in S. CA. Thanks SJ. | ||

| It was 107 in Palm Springs when I headed up at 2 p.m. Lots cooler on the summit. Nice hike and I had the summit all to myself when I arrived there with great views in all directions despite the haziness to the west and south. | ||

| Great views of desert floor and surrounding peaks. Some great bouldering in Round Valley too. Have made a couple attempts at the summit from the bottom off Ramon Rd, but could never seem to finish due to time or health concerns. I'm workin on it though... | ||

| A much better than anticipated hike in terms of scenery. Very green for this part of Southern California mountains. I hiked with Gibran Begum and Steven Sauter. We leisurely made the top in about 5 hours from the Marion Mtn trailhead. Several other hikers on top, mainly coming up via the Palm Springs tramway (Round Valley route). I took a side trip and bagged nearby Miller Peak (10,400') and Cornell Peak (9750') to the east of San Jacinto. I enjoyed the fun, class 3 climb up Cornell Peak. Quite a view to the north: 9000+ ft of relief, down to the windmills near Palm Springs. | ||

| After climbing San Gorgonio, I had the climb its neighbor San Jacinto, Splendid climb, there is even a stone cabin-like shelter at the top, equipped with bunk beds, which are great for snow conditions. | ||

| All my planning ahead paid off into a great hike, one that I had looked forward to for quite some time. The weather ended up hotter in Palm Springs (105 on this day) than I had hoped for. Had just enough water. It was nice to refill in Long Valley. Left Palm Springs from Ramon Road at 6:50am. Was in Long Valley at 12noon. Was on the peak at 2:05pm. Great day. Read my trip report ("Cactus to Clouds on Memorial Day") for more detailed information. | ||

| I've been wanting to do this hike for awhile, and finally did it last weekend with a friend of mine. Was warm and sunny at the bottom, then started snowing around 6,000 ft.! It was absolutely gorgeous watching the fresh powdery flakes dusting the trees and the trail ahead of us.. The snow was blowing everywhere and it was really windy on top. Then we ducked into the sheltered restaurant where we chowed thankfully on real food. Several Bailey's and coffee's later, we took the 15 minute tram ride down. Amazing hike! I felt pretty darn proud of ourselves until I found out that a guy who works at the tram ran up in 3 hours. Wow. | ||

| Did a snowshoe hike from Long Valley to Wellman Divide and then countoured around Jean and up to Jacinto. Three feet of fresh snow made for a great day. No need to go up to Wellman Divide. Next time I'll just make a more direct route like everyone else. Took ice axe and crampons but they weren't needed. | ||

| Have climbed the Skyline trail to Round Valley many times but never completed the trip to the Peak. Had great weather on top with about three feet of snow. With sticking in the drainages to the right cuts off at least a mile. | ||
