Yeah, Sassafras came about 3/4 of the way through our day and required a pretty good tug to get up. I LOVED the red columbine blooming everywhere and the dripping, mossy springs.

I seem to remember reaching it after a bit of an uphill slog. Won't ever carry a 50 pound pack for non-technical routes again!

Met a group of Army Rangers while I was going up, or rather, while I was leaning against a rock munching a granola bar and they were humping 16s and a SAW. "He's got the right idea" is what one said.
