This picture was taken with a Fuji S 5500 camera with 10x zoom range (38 - 380 mmm equivalent, in reality only 5.7 - 57 mm). The photo was taken with full zoom, which gives an idea of the quality of the lens. The photos taken by my wife, and a few of mine before I got the Fuji, are taken with a HP Photosmart 812, the Pentax lens of which has only 3x zoom, but is just as god optically. Neither of these are expensive cameras, I found the Fuji on the Internet for $ 312. All are four megapixels. Much lies also in the treatment with the photo printing program, of course. I use Microsoft "Picture It" for the photos I put on SP.

The normal route is a quite easy ferrata, which starts from a col to the left of the peak (it cannot be seen here).

This peak (and the photo of it) are very deserving to be included in the "most beautiful peaks on earth" album, IMHO. Great job!

The Dolomites are in the north eastern part of Italy, about the northern half of them is in an autonomous (German-speaking) region called South Tirol or Alto Adige, this used to be Austrian before WWI. They are about two hours drive from the nearest airport, in Innsbruck (Austria). The highest peak is the Marmolada (3343 m/10968 ft.) which is also the only one with a sizable glacier, but there are 115 summits above 3000 m/9843 ft.

Thank you for the comment. Actually, there is a wide valley between the meadow and the mountain (so that the mountain is farther away, and thus larger than you might think), but that is hard to see from the photo.
