Climbed Scafell Pike the day after my first ascent of Snowdon, very crowded, it was a Bank Holiday weekend. Still plenty of free parking in Wasdale Head, some of the lakes on the way there were stunning. Would like to go back to the Lake District to climb some other peaks.

Visited summit for 3rd time but this time having ascended Ill Crags SE face (just submitted new route page for this excellent scramble) - having set out from Borrowdale at 7.45am. Long but very enjoyable day.

Did this climb as part of a 3 Peaks charity challenge. It was a fun, scenic climb. My memory is a little hazy, as I was going on 36 hours without much sleep. But, there are some great pics to prove I was there!

Date Climbed: May 9, 2012

This was my forth ascent of Englands Highest. Starting at Eskdale - Climbed it three from Wasdale via longer different routes but many more to try out! Would highly recommend the start in Boot and following Eskdale up the valley and scrambling along CamSpout Crag. Climbed the mountain in all seasons - lovely to do in winter!

Better done early doors or out of season if you like to be alone on the hill.

Andrew Rankine

A bit of a long day, and it rained so hard that I got completely drenched through my softshell pants and rain jacket, and the water running down my legs soaked my mountaineering boots (only pair of boots I had on the trip).

rggThe last peak on a long day  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 21, 2012

I had camped at Red Tarn and started the day hiking up and over Crinkle Crags, and followed the ridge all the way to Scafell Pike.

I descended in the direction of Lingmell, and ended up camping at around 550m, not far from the normal route up Scafell Pike.

There were plenty of small streams around with good water, higher up too, but finding a flat spot that wasn't boggy took a bit of searching. Where I ended up, I had beautiful views of the west face of Scafell Pike and the north face of Scafell as the sun went down.

markhallamWith Jake the Dog  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 5, 2008

Did a long day with Jake, 5 year old golden retriever, over Great & Green Gables then round and up Scafell Pike before long descent back to Borrowdale. Jake didn't like the rocks on top of Scafell and got very hot - aided by the odd stream we found. But he was so tired at the end, I nearly had to cock his leg for him.

Climbed at night with Matt Parkes, getting footage of him for a short film we were making. Interesting experience, for sure.

From Seatoller bus stop via Corridor Route. Foggy and crowded on top, but was an amazing and beautiful hike. Everyone was all decked out for mountaineering, and it's just a trail. We each had running shoes, an extra long-sleeve shirt, snack food, and a rain jacket.

GatesyCorridor - Summit - Esk Hause  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 30, 2010

Started from Seathwaite and the Stockely Bridge, before ascending via Styhead Tarn and the Corridor Route. Descended via the plateau between Broad Crag & Ill Crag, before rounding Great End and proceeding down the Esk Hause col. However, neither these peaks, nor an ascent of Scafell made due to illness in a member of our party.
Glorious weather, stunning views and popular but not overcrowded.
