SG eruption close-up
Close up of ash plume exiting the vent at Santiaguito volcano Jan 2009. Nothing new I suppose but just realised I had this and thought it was pretty cool.

It was actually taken from the dome's 'parent' volcano Santa María. You can get an idea of the geometry in this picture. This kind of configuration where you can see into the vent is fairly unusual. Mt. Meru is another excellent example while Volcán de Colima has grown a little too much to be seen into from Nevado de Colima.
