Overview


This peak is located in the upper section of the Aiguille Rouges Refuge, across the valley from the Argentiere Glacier. The Rouges dont see as much climbers as the other side of the valley does, but the Rouges is a very popular hiking area. There are Routes from VI+ - D.

Getting There


From the town of Argentiere head up the valley for aprox 5-10 min. until you get to a pull out on the left side of the road across from the Aiguille Rouges Refuge Center. From there you would take the trail to the left (down valley) of the Center. But when the cable car is open it provides easier access from lower in the valley. From the Higher station of the cable car of Flefere or since the arrival of the Index, to join the White Lake(2300m). To cross it towards the east in the direction of the Needle of quite recognizable, Persévérance by is narrow profile and its flattened top.

Red Tape


To hike or climb in the Rouges there are no permits or fees. The parking at the trailhead is free also. There are wild animals so watch where you leave your packs if there is food in it, there are alot of marmots..

When To Climb


The best time to climb would be May to September. But in the high season (july-august) you will have a cable car to shorten the approach and descent by aleast 2 hrs.

Camping


The are Huts in the area and to find which one suits you the best go to the office de haute montagne and they will assist you with price and location.
