Overview

Geographical structure: Eastern Alps > Kamnik Alps group > Central group of Kamnik Alps.

From the left: Dolgi hrbet, Struca, Skuta and Kranjska Rinka. SW side.

Rinke are the small mountain group constituted of the four peaks. These four peaks are: Kranjska Rinka (2453m), Kriz (Koroska Rinka) (2433m), Stajerska Rinka (2374m) and Mala Rinka (2289m). On all of them are approachable over the marked routes only on the smallest Mala Rinka don`t go any routes but it is easily approachable. Rinke are located in the middle of the Kamnik Alps group in the Central part of the group. They are located in the half of circle. On the west side are connected with the huge Skuta. Between Skuta and Kranjska Rinka is the famous airy ridge called Skuta-Kranjska Rinka ridge. This ridge is climbing route with difficulties around UIAA IV. Below this ridge is on the north side the second largest glacier in Slovenia called Ledenik pod Skuto (glacier). From Kranjska Rinka goes in the north direction another ridge that comes on the Kriz (Koroska Rinka) and then this ridge continues to the Jezersko sedlo (pass) (2034m) and Savinjsko sedlo (pass) (2001m). From Kriz (Koroska Rinka) continues in the east direction ridge to the Stajerska Rinka and then on Mala Rinka and falls down on the notch where from the north side comes the steep Turski zleb (channel). Then the ridge continues in the east direction on the next powerful mountain in the Central group of Kamnik Alps Turska gora (2251m).

On the north side of Kriz (Koroska Rinka), Stajerska Rinka and Mala Rinka is the big plateau Okreselj. This is the end of the big Logarska dolina (valley). Between the summits of Rinke and the plateau Okreselj is the famous north face of Kriz (Koroska Rinka), Stajerska Rinka and Mala Rinka. These are very popular faces for climbing, have a good rock and the climbing routes of all types of difficulty. Kranjska Rinka has some climbing route above Ledenik pod Skuto (glacier) in the NW face and in the south face above another big plateau Mali Podi. On Mali Podi is located a bivouac called Bivak pod Skuto na Malih Podih (2070m).

The names of Rinke comes from the names of the lands in Slovenia: Koroska, Stajerska and Kranjska. On the summits of Rinke go many marked and unmarked routes. On all summits (except Mala Rinka) go marked route. In the lower parts of approaches you have many beautiful unmarked routes. All of them will be described in routes section like marked routes.
