Approach

The route starts near Big Sandy Lake. See the Getting There section on the main page for directions. This is commonly done as a backpacking trip, although it is possible to day hike this mountain from the Big Sandy Trailhead.

Route Description

From Big Sandy Lake, hike north on the Jackass Pass Trail. When it's convenient (almost anywhere before the pass), start bushwhacking up the south slopes on grass, talus, and through boulders near the top. To keep it easy, aim for slightly right of the summit until the broad east ridge is reached. This can be followed to the top.

Essential Gear

Standard hiking gear for the climb. Backpacking gear for the approach.

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
